He is a columnist and commentator on luxury brands with Economic Times. His earlier assignments include Editorship of Op-Ed page, Edit page and Luxury brands. Mahul is an expert on luxury and has edited luxury supplement for a leading newspaper. He has been a commentator and columnist on luxury brands for The Economic Times (ET Retail) for the past three years. His novel "Decoding Luxe", which has already received praises from eminent authors (Bibek Debroy, Kunal Basu), Editors (Times of India, Hindu) and industrialists (Ratan Tata, D Shivakumar, Sanjiv Goenka, Harshavardhan Neotia, Hemant Kanoria, Nirvik Singh) is all set to make its debut.

Mahul's debut short film as an actor “Elixir” has been selected and screened at 69th Cannes Film Festival in 2016. His debut feature film is all set for release later in 2017.

Mahul has won the prestigious "Ecommerce Communication Leader of the Year" Award in 2017 and "Young Achiever Award" in the National Awards for Excellence in Corporate Communication in 2016.

He currently heads branding and corporate communications for a Tata Steel and SAIL venture-mjunction. He was with Ambuja Neotia Group and RP-SG Group, heading corporate communications and branding.

Mahul is a regular Speaker in business schools such as IIM-Calcutta, industry bodies and forums such as CII on luxury brands, communications, branding, and cinema.

Even post his journalism stint, Mahul’s articles, interviews and quotes regularly feature leading national media.

Hailing from a Brahmo family in Kolkata, Mahul is a student of St Xavier’s College, Calcutta and a rank-holder in Masters in International Economics from University of Calcutta. He is now pursuing his Executive MBA from MICA and PhD in Economics.
